Leicester Winter League 2015 Round 1 Report

Round one of the Leicester Winter League ended with a highly successful win for Team Ilkeston.

The team started off with a first place win from the 11/u Girls Freestyle Relay and wrapped up the night with a win in the Mixed 8x25 Freestyle Cannon!

We dominated giving commanding displays and showing a range of high quality underwater phases and race skills. There were even a few pbs in there too which at this point of the year is really good.

Although some swimmers were racing fast, we weren't reaching some of our pbs and if you weren't reaching it do not get upset about it. As discussed with some of the swimmers, after the Christmas break it's like another preseason, we're only 12 days into 2015, so you should all be very proud with your performance!

The stats:

Overall, there were 24 first places which equates to half of the gala programme. 12 second places and 4 third places!! That's 40 top three places out of 49 races! Outstanding team!!

Last season in round one we finished the gala with 150 points so that's 78 points more than round one 2014!

Overall points were:

1st Team Ilkeston 228

2nd Burton 211

3rd Loughborough B 153

4th Oadby & Wigston 147

5th Shepshed 139

6th Daventry B 121

Big thanks to everyone that was on poolside helping out!! Well done to all teams it was a really good gala. There was a lot of nerves last night and we gave all the teams respect last night but didn't fear them. Let's keep a level head and attack the next gala with the same attitudes. GO Team Ilkeston

CHRISTMAS CLOSURE

The Final Swim Session of 2014 will be Thursday 18th December.

There will be no swimming sessions across all pools from Saturday 20th December through to Saturday 3rd January.

Please use word of mouth to let everyone know of the arrangements.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Everybody at Ilkeston SC!!!

We had 64 times that were better than Round 1 & 2!!

By my calculation we should have league results by January so to save waiting I believe we finished on 12 league points in total which means that will be the clubs best points total since 2008 where we finished on 18 points! A massive team effort with everyone pulling together is what makes us so successful at these galas!

Just to say a big thank you to all helpers that have assisted during the three rounds of Arena because without all of you we wouldn’t be able to do it! Swimmers you’ve excelled again and it’s an extremely proud moment for the whole coaching team to watch you grow and especially in the Arena league which is one of, if not the hardest leagues in the United Kingdom. Well done to the coaching team who have worked extremely hard behind the scenes to push for a better league position than last year and i am confident that we will have achieved this.

Merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year!

Lets get ready for a fun packed 2015!

JC Dobb 2014 Autumn League Round 3 Report

A Superb performance from everybody at the Third Round of JC Dobb Autumn League with ISC finishing 2nd on the night and 2nd in the overall league table.

Early on we lost one of our young stars, Lewis Brown, to illness in the warm-up, however the duo of Harry Joslin and gala debutant George Reynolds were more than up for the task and performed fantastically in Lewis' Absence.

ISC headed into the final gala in 3rd position overall, just 11 points off top spot and although it would be a tough task to finish top, the team showed their fighting spirit and fought all the way.

There were 49 new best times in total, 17 more than the last round and the whole team contributed.

In total there were:

3 - Speeding Tickets

10 - 1st Places (16 in the last round)

16 - 2nd Places (10 in the last round)

5 - 3rd Places (5 in the last round)

This meant we finished in the top 2 in over half of the 48 races.

Some highlights of note from the night were:

Charlie Palmer gaining a 13yrs Club Record in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 37.06 which was a PB by over 1s and also happened to be faster than the 14yrs and 15yrs Club Records for the same event.

George Reynolds marking his gala debut with 5 races which included 3 First places and 1 Second Place.

William Wright, Lewis Wright, Sophie King, Jake Elson and Ryan Kirk getting 1st Places in their individual events.

It was a great night as ever and we all owe a big thanks to all the parents for helping out and ensuring the night went ahead without a hitch.
