Arena League 2014 Round 1 Report

Round One of the Arena League was a cracker!

Team Ilkeston finished third out of five teams that were really tough opposition. It was great to see Ilkeston prevail as a top three team hammering Dove Valley who has been our bogey team for the past three years!

This result proves how far you have all come as swimmers and put up a fight especially in the final two relay races!

We have swimmers on the freestyle relays pulling 26’s, 27’s and 28’s out and some of the 13/14 year old's doing 29’s for 50m’s! Its fantastic and obviously its only a fraction of what you are capable of at this moment.

In terms of top three positions:
6 - 1st places
8 - 2nd places
14 - 3rd places

Final scores:
1st Falcon - 178
2nd Wantage - 174
3rd Ilkeston - 138
4th Matlock - 135
5th Dove Valley - 109

A lot of personal bests were recorded last night! Swimmers were knocking several seconds off their times which proves if you work hard you will receive rewards in return. But, swimmers get to know your pb’s please! Every time we asked last night, “great swim - what’s your pb!?” Half of you looked and didn't know. You need to know what your goal times are to fire you up for the race!

In addition, we had some debuts for Team Ilkeston last night in their first Arena League for the club - well done to these swimmers!

Leah Burgin-Rawson, Keira Banks, Ashley Hutchinson, Lewis Brown, Kian Eaves, Ollie Hunt, Ellis Haddon, Evan Coggins, William Foster, Daniel Sloan, Robyn Beecham!

Big thanks to all the parents that helped out on poolside!

Wait until you see these results!! Well done Team!

JC Dobb 2014 Autumn League Round 2 Report

A Brilliant performance from everybody at the Second Round of JC Dobb Autumn League with ISC finishing 4th, but more importantly just 17 points behind the winners.

On the night, we were a victim of our own success with speeding tickets in 6 events proving the swimmers are coming on leaps and bounds with some huge PBs. The total time under the cut-offs for all 6 speeding tickets was 1.41 seconds, showing how narrow a margin there was between coming 4th and potentially winning by a country mile. But that’s the fun of Dobbs.

With just one round to go, ISC is in a really strong position. We head into the next round on 29th November at Hucknall Leisure Centre in 3rd position overall, just 11 points off top spot.

There were 32 new best times in total, 4 more than the last round and the whole team was fantastic.

In total there were:

6 - Speeding Tickets

16 - 1st Places (5 in the last round)

10 - 2nd Places (15 in the last round)

5 - 3rd Places (12 in the last round)

This meant we finished in the top 3 in 31 of the 48 races. 37/48 including STs.

16 First places is a massive achievement when you consider the 6 speeding tickets also finished first with PBs. This meant we touched the wall first in a third of the events excluding the STs.

Some highlights of note from the night were:

Keira Banks making her gala debut and contributing to 3 1st place finishes and 1 2nd place finish in the 10/u and 8/9yrs relays.

Ryan Kirk marking his gala debut with a speeding ticket and big PB in the 10/U 25m Backstroke.

Lewis Brown marking his first individual race with a speeding ticket and going sub-20s in the 10/U 25m Butterfly with a time of 19.61.

Jake Elson (x2), Evan Coggins (x2), Leah Woodhead, Charlie Palmer, Chelsea Sanders, Cameron Halliday, Robyn Beecham and Elsie Vivian getting 1st Places in their individual events.

It was a great night as ever and we all owe a big thanks to all the parents for helping out and ensuring the night went ahead without a hitch.

Bring on Round 3!!!

Final Gala Standings:

1st Sutton - 178

2nd Radford - 164

2nd Kimberley - 164

4th Ilkeston - 161

5th Portland - 130

6th Hucknall & Linby - 112

Standings after 2 Rounds:

2nd Radford - 317

3rd Ilkeston - 313

4th Kimberley - 305

5th Portland - 252

6th Hucknall & Linby - 230

Next Gala is the JC Dobb Autumn League Round 3 on Saturday 29th November at Hucknall Leisure Centre.

JC Dobb 2014 Autumn League Round 1 Report

A Fantastic performance from everybody at the first gala of the new season with ISC coming 2nd, just 1 point behind the winners. This puts us in a great position heading into the next round on 4th October which ISC will be hosting at Bramcote Leisure Centre.

There were 28 new best times in total and the whole team swum brilliantly considering the gala came right off the back of the summer break and holiday season.

In total there were:

5 - Speeding Tickets

5 - 1st Places

15 - 2nd Places

12 - 3rd Places

This meant we finished in the top 3 in 32 of the 48 races. 37/48 including STs.

Some highlights of note from the night were:

Grace Bennett making her gala debut and finishing the 25m Butterfly in a huge new PB of 23.18 to add to a new best time for her 25m Freestyle.

Hannah Brompton making her gala debut and contributing to 4 3rd place finishes in the 10/u and 8/9yrs relays.

Robyn Beecham making her Dobbs debut and gaining a speeding ticket and 1st place as well as new PBs in her 2 individual races.

Will Wright getting under the 30s mark for the first time at ISC in the 50m Freestyle with a time of 29.86 and a speeding ticket to go with it.

Jake Elson, Elsie Vivian and Charlie Palmer getting 1st Places and new PBs in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 50m Butterfly respectively.

As ever with the dobbs galas it was great fun and really close races with all ISC swimmers going flat out to the wall. Big thanks to all the parents for getting all swimmers poolside well in time for the warm-up, it is a real help to me on poolside to know everyone is there early so thanks for that.
