Ilkeston Swimming Club was formed in 1972 and previously had a long tradition of teaching children to swim from beginners through to the top swimmers in the Country. Once our members have achieved competent swimming status they are encouraged to continue, become a stronger, a technically improved swimmer, and then if they so choose, to adopt a competitive role within the club.

Ilkeston Swimming Club is a very friendly, family orientated club. We coach swimming all the way through to high competitive standards. We have a small Social Committee which organises various events throughout the year to help subsidise the social “team building” of the club.

Everyone you see actively assisting at the Club, whether they are committee members, coaches, time keepers, or poolside helpers is a volunteer who originally became involved through bringing their children swimming or swimming themselves. The Club relies entirely on volunteers and we encourage anyone who may be interested – from a social side and fund raising, all the way through to becoming a fully qualified teacher/coach, please ask, as we are always looking for new recruits and assistance in all areas.
